Succeeding with Samex
If you want to know how SAMEX can help you, here are some
typical examples of the ways we work with customers and our export
partners.
Samex Ltd was the lynch pin in the entire logistics operation;
they provided immense support to both NUS and M.I.T.
Craig Lucas M.I.T. M.I.T.
A project set down by the Pacifica Department of M.I.T. and the
National University of Samoa, Craig Lucas of M.I.T. went to
Samoa to conduct master cooking classes exposing hospitality
students to a different range of skills and methods of cookery.
SAMEX was responsible for organising the delivery of the
produce needed for these master classes to take place.

The assistance offered to us by SAMEX was extraordinary and

17 day period.
Jack Cooper, The Trader Trader Jacks
Trader Jacks, incorporating Blue Pacific Foods, was first
introduced to SAMEX when tendering for the catering of the South
Pacific Mini Games 2009.
The assistance offered to us by SAMEX was extraordinary and
helped in the success of our tender where we were required to
produce 75,000 meals over a 17 day period. A daunting task
considering the logistics involved in the sourcing of equipment,
food items, (both dry & frozen) and their timely delivery to
Rarotonga being in the middle of the South Pacific.
The principals of Samex are Blair Knill (Aka Cake Man) and Rob
Donley. Blair has the ability to suck a golf ball through a garden
hose making him a born salesman. Rob Donley (Rob being the key
word) is a former truck driver would be happier fishing than
working.
Well done guys!

Cook Islands Government
Hosting the Pacific mini-Games in 2009 presented many challenges
for the Cook Islands. Right down to the F&B requirements. Over
2,500 athletes and support staff were to descend on Rarotonga, and
there was simply not enough F&B capacity in the country to
cope. The Chief of Staff in the Prime Minister's office knew of
Samex from other projects, so he approached us to tender in a
competitive pitch for a total solution. Which we duly arranged,
from temporary locations and kitchens right down to crockery,
cutlery, produce and the chefs. SAMEX won the pitch on our
competitive price, quality and the comprehensiveness of our
proposal.

Burns & Ferrall
As well as being a one-stop-shop for commercial kitchens, Burns
& Ferrall also do domestic kitchenware, bathrooms, laundries
and even bakeries. They've been in business in New Zealand for over
60 years and had experience of exporting, but they approached us at
the Chicago FMI show with a view to establish an export
partnership. They saw the value in SAMEX's expertise, established
relationships and total-solution approach. Already, the partnership
has borne fruit, with a Pacific mini-games contract, around 90% of
which was supplied by Burns & Ferrall.
